The Importance of Pressure Testing Your Fiberglass Pool

Before you open or close your pool for the season, it’s crucial to have our fiberglass pool technicians pressure test its plumbing system. Pressuring testing allows us to determine if your pool’s equipment can maintain consistent pressure. By using varying levels of air and water, we can identify any leaks, weak points, or defects that may compromise your pool’s efficiency.

This process is especially important at the beginning and end of each season due to the extensive changes in temperature and weather conditions. As your pool transitions from months of use to a dormant state and vice versa, the system essentially undergoes a reboot. This places additional strain on the plumbing itself. Any weaknesses or vulnerabilities in the system can cause leaks or failures.

5 stars for Aqua Pools! We’ve never had a pool so this was our first experience. Most companies wouldn’t even come out for a consultation for 3 months or more but Mike came out within a few weeks, walked us through designs and features and answered all of our questions. Once construction started he kept us informed throughout the process and answered all of our questions along the way. The ladies in the front office were always very helpful and quick to respond. I would gladly recommend Aqua Pools to anyone looking to build a pool! We are loving our pool!

Aqua Pools did such an awesome job with our pool. They took care of us and was upfront and honest and it was a great overall experience. With this being our first pool, Mike answered all of our questions thoroughly and was available to take my call anytime I had a concern. Fast forward a few years later and pool still looks great as it did on day 1. Thank you Aqua!

Frequently Asked Questions about Opening & Closing Your Pool

Typically, after a pool is opened and properly balanced, it’s recommended to wait 24-48 hours before swimming. This allows the water to circulate and the chemicals to disperse evenly.

In regions with colder climates, like Maryland, we generally advise closing the pool for winter in the early fall, or around September or October, before temperatures consistently drop below freezing.

As a fiberglass pool owner, one of the most challenging decisions to make is when to open your pool. In order to avoid opening your pool too early or too late, we recommend scheduling your opening once the temperature is consistently above 70 degrees during the day.

If you’re unsure whether or not it’s time to open your pool, please call Aqua Pools at 410-357-AQUA. We’d be happy to walk you through the process and book your appointment.
